let’s make something Naughty

Garlic Bread Grilled Cheese Hot Dog

make me

Ingredients

Serving Size: 8 hot dogs

For the Garlic Butter

  • 1 stick (½ cup) unsalted butter

  • 3 garlic cloves, finely minced

  • 1 Tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped (or dried italian seasoning)

  • ¼ tsp kosher salt

For the Hot Dogs & Buns

  • 8 hot dog buns

  • 8 large hot dogs

  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese (about ¼ cup per bun)

Instructions

1. Make the Garlic Butter

  1. In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter.

  2. Stir in the minced garlic and a pinch of salt. Cook 1–2 minutes, just until fragrant (don’t brown the garlic).

  3. Remove from heat and stir in parsley if using.

2. Prep the Hot Dogs

  1. Lightly score each hot dog with shallow diagonal slashes both ways, about ½ inch apart.

  2. Grill or pan-sear the hot dogs over medium heat until heated through and slightly blistered, about 5–6 minutes total. Keep warm.

3. Grill the Buns with Cheese

  1. Split the hot dog buns open but keep the hinge intact.

  2. Brush the outside of each bun generously with the garlic butter.

  3. Sprinkle about ¼ cup shredded cheddar on the inside of each bun and close gently.

  4. Place buns on a griddle or large skillet over medium heat. Press lightly and grill until the outsides are golden and crispy and the cheese inside is fully melted—about 2–3 minutes per side.

4. Assemble

  1. Carefully reopen each grilled cheese bun (cheese will be gooey!).

  2. Nestle a scored hot dog inside.

  3. Drizzle with any remaining garlic butter if desired.

Everyone loves a good hot dog. And don’t get me wrong, I know they’re supposed to be simple. BUT.. there is nothing simple about this and that’s okay. Because she is soooo delish. You know I love my sandwiches, so this is the perfect combo: a grilled cheese and a hot dog. You’ve got the garlic butter lathered buns, sharp cheddar cheese and scored hot dogs to soak up all the extra garlic butter. It’s the prefect elevated game-day dish and a must-try if you’re feeling a little adventurous this week.
